Something “Special” about Director Guruprasad
What’s special in Guruprasad’s Director’s Special? Right now, it’s only his brand name that’s hot, apart from the movie’s novel title. He has not yet finalized the main hero, thought 5 heroes have been short-listed. The heroine too will be finalized within this fortnight, he said.
Guruprasad likes to work with people he has worked before. That’s why most of the technicians have been handpicked by him from his previous movie, apart from the Music Director and the Editor, but the film to be produced by M. Govinda, will also introduce a new face.
Guruprasad’s third movie in the making was formally launched recently at Abhay Naidu Studio which saw top stars and film makers like Nagathahalli Chandrashekar, TN Seetharam, Ravichandran, Ambarish, Raghavendra Raj Kumar, and Srinagar Kitty among others.
Simultaneously, a book titled Director’s Special comprising 18 short sorties priced Rs.150/- was released by Rebel Star Ambarish, and the film clap was done by Raghavendra Rajkumar and Ravichandran.
Addressing the media Guruprasad said that this movie will have 5 songs, but of a reduced duration from 5 minutes to 3 minutes each. The focus will be on entertainment, humour, and Gandhinagar, and the ‘power of thoughts’.
“The film will not be a replica of my earlier films, in terms of grammar and formula. It is going to be one of its kind experimental project, but with a message, and with big budget. Fortunately, I have a good producer who has produced two moves in the past and has an in-depth understanding of industry,” he said. “If the movie succeeds, all the credit would go to my technical people, but if it fails, the blame will be mine,” he added. He concluded by saying ominously that there will be something “special” about the film.
Gurprasad recently bagged best director award for the State, for Eddellu Manjunath his second film while his first film was the critically acclaimed Matha.
Producer M. Govinda said that he was thrilled by Guru’s first move Matha which had a small budget and lots of humor with no great commercial value but with good message.
“I decided the day I saw Matha and yet again Eddelu Manjunatha to make a move in association with Guru, and you can be sure that the film will be truly special,” he signed off.
