Ananth Kumar ties GREEN RAKSHA BANDHAN

‘Raksha Bandana’ was celebrated on 24th August in the city with a special message. GREEN Raksha Bhandan.  Shri H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, Bangalore South celebrated ‘Raksha Bandana’ by tying a ‘GREEN RAKSHA BANDHAN’ to a tree along with Vijaya College students at Jayanagar, Bangalore. He was accompanied by Mrs. Ananthkumar Tejeswini, College Principal Sri Venkatraman  and area Corporator CK Ramamurthy.
The BJP leader also planted a tree at the college campus to create awareness for environment protection. Later he addressed the students saying, “We have to protect our mother earth, mother India, our state, our city, trees, lakes & environment. This is the need of today. Today, we have launched this campaign from Vijaya College. In the coming years we will take this movement to all the colleges in the India.”

Ananth Kumar also recalled his youth days when he was actively involved with ABVP and said that he was thrilled by the enthusiasm shown by students, generally in college campus.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan several people called on me to tie Raksha Bandhan but I requested them to accompany me to Vijaya College to be a part of this Green Raksha Bandhan, he said, and urged the students to preserve the existing tress and plant more trees.

He also recalled the message conveyed by the then Prime Minster Sri. Atal Behari Vajpayee and said that if some one has to do something to the society he need not have to do big things, instead pour a glass of water to a plant at your own house which will in turn transform the environment.

The BJP leader also called on the students to seek inspiration from leaders like Vajpayee and Bhagat Singh, and leaders who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country, and not present day politicians.

Rotary Bangalore Midtown Eco Club organized the event along with Kshiti Foundation. More than 2500 students participated in the event.
