Stars take home the Black Lady!
57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 Winners
The 57th Idea Filmfare Awards was a glitzy night with the talented star brigade from the South Indian film industry turning out in their glamorous best. The evening witnessed memorable performances infused with an environment of fun and fervor. This year’s Awards were held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
The Comperes for the evening, Ganesh Venkatraman and Andrea were present in their very best to add a dose of humour and wit to the glamorous evening! The praiseworthy nominees waited with bated breath as the envelopes were opened to reveal the winners of the coveted lady in black. Nadodigal bagged the Award for Best Film while Priyadarshan won Best Director for Kanjeevaram.Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) went to Prakash Raj for his performance in Kanjeevaram and Best Actor in a leading role (Female) was awarded to Pooja for her role in Naan Kadavul.
The ceremony had the crème de la crème of the South Indian film industry looking dazzling in the best of traditional and western wear. The star studded brigade encompassing Vidya Balan, Shriya Saran, Simbu, Prabhu Deva, Trisha, Tamannaah, Reemaa Sen, Mammootty, directors Shankar and KS Ravikumar and many more were out in full force either to take home the coveted black lady or to cheer for their colleagues. The sensational Sameera Reddy rocked to Tamil tracks Endhiran, Adiye Kolluthe, Anjale Najale, Nenjukkul Peythidum and You Stole My Heart. Padmapriya Janakiraman set the stage on fire with tracks from En Prana Nayagane, Style Style Thana, Greeka Veeradu, Chiku Bukku, Pattu Pattu. Gorgeous beauty Lakshmi Rai performed a Tamil and Malayalam Medley with Erumbile Oru Hridayam, Ole Ole and En Uchi Mandiyele and sent the temperature soaring. Poonam Kaur sizzled on a Telugu Medley with tracks Chinna China Asai, Ennamma Chinnamma, Ammani Theeyani Abba, A ante Amalapuram and Kanana Chilaka while the stunning Sharmila Mandre had the crowds mesmerized with her performance on a Kannada and Tamil Medley with tracks Ghumthare Ghumthare, Magadheeya and Kutcheri.
The Filmfare Awards’ 57th edition is presented this year by the leading telecom operator, Idea Cellular and the associate sponsor is Access Atlantech Edutainment (I) Ltd.
