BNV goes envt-friendly

“Say No to Plastic”

Sri B N Vijaykuma, MLA convened a meeting with important and eminent people to launch a campaign titled “Say No to Plastic” in Jayanagar

The gathering discussed how to cut plastic usage in daily life. Though Vijaykumar planned to introduce it all over Banaglore, for the time being the campaign will kick off from his constituency, that is, Jayanagar and J P Nagar. Once the plan starts working well he has promised to take up the same to whole of Bangalore by making it mandatory with the help of BBMP.

BNV suggested that this programme should start in Schools and Colleges,Banks,
Government Offices, Shopping Malls. Mr Nagaraj from Art of Living suggested that there should be a ban on usage of plastic. There were also suggestions from the members present to educate the people through posters, hand bills, banners etc.

There were also some valuable suggestions from members present like Dr. Meenakshi-member for solid waste management round table, Suneel Puranik of samruddhi, M S Prasad of Prakruthi, Nagaraj G from Art of Living. BNV suggested that starting from today that is 11th August to 11th September, this programme should be taken on a massive scale and he also said that it will not be very easy to achieve what is required as there will be lot of résistance from the public. Each member was given the responsibility to work separately in different places like schools & colleges, Government Organisations, Parks and Playgrounds, public places and shops and establishments.

This meeting was attended by Officials from BBMP, Corporators & Members from NGO’s and other Social Workers.
