CCIE'S monsoon sale showcases country's best cottons

Monsoons are a unique time in India, when the rains cleanse everything and bring freshness and beauty to everything they touch. To celebrate this season, the Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) began a 10 day festival on July 16,2010 with a unique Monsoon sale, an exhibition cum sale of Sarees and Dress Fabric from all over the country.
The Exhibition was inaugurated by Ms.Shrutha Keerthi, Miss India-2004 (viewer’s choice) on Friday along with Sri. S. Mukherjee, Additional General Manager, of Central Cottage Industry.  
CCIE's monsoon sale is meant to celebrate the fun and beauty of the rains and in keeping with his sentiment, it has brought together a virtual cornucopia of colours, designs and cotton textures which are on display at Cottage. Cottons are popular during monsoons because they wear well and are easy to maintain, Keeping this in mind, Cottage has sourced the best and most exquisite fabrics and textiles and sarees, which amply describe the country's culture, heritage and diversity. Besides Cottage always provides products which are good value for money and of the highest quality. Also, every piece is unique since it evolves as an essential part of the craftsperson. Hence, the customer is assured of not just a product but a creative art piece which can be preserved.
The range is as varied as it is exclusive. There are the exquisite Mangalagiri block printed sarees with zari border which is a combination of Andhra & Jaipur (Block Printed) cotton sarees, exclusive Bagru, Dabu & rapid hand block printed cotton sarees from Rajasthan, plain cotton with zari border & thread border cotton sarees from Narayanpet (Andhra Pradesh), Shantipur woven cotton sarees and exclusive kota sarees from Bengal, tie & dye sarees (Bandhini) from Gujrat & Rajasthan. Also Cottage is offering printed Chanderi and plain Chanderi with zari border - pure silk sarees from Madhya Pradesh, printed Tussar, Pashmina silk Jaipur sarees & block printed Maheswari sarees from Jaipur, Rajasthan with border on silk/cotton. In fabrics the range is varied and exclusive. There is Narayanpet cottons from Andhra with zari borders, hand block printed cotton from Rajasthan, raw cotton from Bhagalpur- Bihar and Mangalgiri block printed cotton with zari Borders from Jaipur. Besides the above there is also special display of painted wooden furniture. 
Incidentally, with the opening up of the MG Road stretch from Trinity Circle to Webb's junction, which had been closed for Metro work, it is now very easy to access Cottage, which is located centrally on MG Road. There's also ample parking space. CCIE has no branches in Karnataka said S. Mukherjee, Additional General Manager.
Every year, CCIE conducts two outdoor exhibitions, while next month there will be one exhibition at Safina Plaza with 14 days sale.
