St Stella Mary’s School, Malleswaram made a grand entry into its Golden Jubilee year sashaying with Usha Uthap’s rocking disco numbers at the musical concert held earlier this week.

Dressed in a rich maroon and gold Kancheepuram saree with her trademark bindi, Usha Uthup started the show with “ I believe in music, I believe in love’ followed by ‘I just called to say I LOVE YOU’. The first woman singer in India to release an album in English, Usha belted out some English numbers, and followed it up with Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku (Kannada), Dum Maro Dum, Rambo ho ho ho, Kajra re and Dhoom Machale. She also proved her versatility by singing songs from Malayalam, Tulu, Konkani, Telugu and Punjabi.

The show started with the lighting of the lamps and the release of the school brochure by Miss Usha Uthap. The brochure contains a brief account on the history and the important missions that are set for the school ever since its inception in 1957.
