Lalbagh is now plastic-free zone
Do you know that plastics can be hazardous to your health and the health of the environment? From next week onwards, visitors to Lalbagh will be given a free lesson on the dangers from use of plastics by NGOs and horticulture department, as part of a month-long campaign from April 1, to make Lalbagh a plastic-free zone. The State government has officially banned the use of plastics in any form in all botanical gardens and parks.
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) is taking the lead in the Say No to Plastics campaign and putting up a number of hoardings and banners in prime locations and thus educating people about the ill-effects of plastics.
Visitors will be educated at the gate and inside the park and the entry of vendors who bring plastic into the park will be banned.
