Rotary International District 3190 - CM conferred ‘Leadership Excellence’ Award

Rotary International started in 1905, one of the world‘s largest  service organizations elected Rtn. Manandi Suresh as District Governor for the year 2010 – 2011 and shared plans for upcoming humanitarian initiatives. On the installation occasion, RI District 3190 is conferring the Rotary Leadership Excellence Award to Sri. B S Yeddyurappa, Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka in recognition of his services to the state and in particular for spearheading the Global Investors Meet and Rotary Vocational Excellence Award to Sri. Kris Gopalakrishnan, CEO & MD, Infosys Technologies Limited, for his invaluable services to the IT industry and in particular to Karnataka.

“R I District 3190 has initiated  several projects worth more than Six Crores of rupees to be implemented in a specified time frame envisioning broad support to the community with special focus on the physically, mentally and financially challenged children.” DG. Manandi Suresh stated. “Rotarians believe in the diction coming together to give health and happiness for “Building Communities – Bridging Continents”, he added.

While the Chief Minister was conferred with the award for his excellent leadership in the last four decades with special emphasis on the Global Investors Meet, Gopalakrishanan got the award for his contributions to Infosys, the IT industry, and the entire country.

Rotary International District 3190 (RI 3190) also made Yeddyurappa its honourary memeber as well the Paul Harris Fellow, contributing $1,000 on his behalf.
Besides Rotary 3190 also elected Mahanandi N Suresh as its District Governor for the year 2010-11.

Mahanandi N Suresh, In its agenda for the year Rotary also plans to equip Ranga Durai Hospital with a Neonatal Incentive Care Unit with eight machines to help the needy at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh. 

Both Yeddyurappa and Gopalakrishnan said that this will help them refocus themselves and strive harder to live up this image.

Rotary International district 3190 plans to:
Invite children from economically deprived background to approach Rotary for free -  365 Heart Operations – a project worth Rs. 3.5 Crores
Equip Ranga Durai Hospital with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with eight machines to provide services for the needy at a nominal fee. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 80 Lakhs
Install Full Fledged Residential Vocational Training Centers For Autistic Children estimated to cost Rs. 1 Crore 
Set up Thirty Resource Centers for Slow Learning children in schools around urban and rural Bangalore. This will be an ongoing project of Rotary District 3190 hence forth.
Training teachers with a Free Certified Course in tutoring Slow Learners, Students with Dyslexia, etc
Distribution of 4 lakhs Notebooks and equipping needy schools with 2,500 benches and constructions of 20 comfort stations in several girls schools located mainly in semi-urban and rural areas costing more than Rs. One crore.

 

DG. Manandi Suresh further said, “The above projects have attracted philanthropists who have volunteered to fund such endeavors. An obligation exists on every human being to devise programmes to assist the disadvantaged in their communities and Rotary International is one of the best organisations, through which energies and expertise can be channelised to achieve such goals. It is a great honor to be the District Governor and I look forward to carrying out my humble duties to serve the community to the best of my capabilities.”

In addition R I District 3190 will focus on projects related to Health, Blood Donation Camps, encouraging technological competencies, Career Guidance, Pollution Control, rural economic development and many such service activities.

DG Manandi Suresh is an active member of the Rotary community who has served Rotary in several leading roles since his induction from 1982. He is a past president of FKCCI and member, ASSOCHAM, New Delhi.
