India plays host to the Mercedes-Benz 15th FIAP World Cup in Nature photography, 2010

The Mercedes-Benz 15th FIAP Nature Biennial World Cup made its India debut at the Garden City, This event, considered among the most prestigious global events in Nature Photography, is brought to India by the Federation of Indian Photography, the Youth Photographic Society along with Mercedes-Benz India.
More than 1000 of the world’s leading nature photographers representing nearly 50 countries are expected to participate for individual as well as country honors in their respective categories including the coveted FIAP World Cup. India’s performance has been extremely creditable. It has won the World Cup four times in the past. For 2010, the jury will comprise of experts whose contribution to photography has been globally acclaimed. The panel comprises of Mr.Jacky Martin from France (also the Secretary General of FIAP), Mr. Ricardo Bussi from Italy, and Ms. Jill Sneesby from South Africa along with Mr. B. Srinivasa and Mr. T.N.A. Perumal from India.
Renowned cricketer, avid nature photographer and Vice-Chairperson of the State Board for Wildlife, Mr. Anil Kumble commented “Photography is a great medium to showcase the beauty and diversity that the natural world possesses. A photography World Cup bringing together images from renowned nature photographers from across the Globe will go a long way in encouraging awareness about our natural heritage and will offer India another opportunity to take center stage in this global forum.”
Director Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz India Mr. Debashis Mitra announced a special contest under the aegis of the FIAP. “The art of Photography shares similar values of passion, excellence and perfection as the Mercedes-Benz brand. We are happy to partner with FIAP as they make their India debut. The FIAP World Cup has brought together the finest minds in photography. I am excited that they have gracefully accepted our request to judge a special contest by Mercedes-Benz. This special photography event is based on the Theme: “The Road to Future” and will be conducted in two different levels for Schools and for Mercedes-Benz Customers.”

The Federation Internationale de l’art Photographique (FIAP), the world body and a UNESCO member counts more than 85 national associations in the five continents and represents the benefits of nearly one million individual photographers.
