But IT's not cricket!

Believe it or not, the IT community is yet to catch the cricket fever at the workplace, despite the world cup. According to some city-based event management companies, there's been a lukewarm response from IT/ITeS companies to host cricket-related events at the workplace.

This is strange, considering that during the world cup football earlier, many IT companies had joined in the fun, by hosting a variety of contests, games and larger-than-life events for their employees.

According to one event manager, the lack of interest over cricket in the IT companies is because cricket is viewed as a family entertainment and employees would prefer to go home and watch the matches along with their family and friends at home.

However, all this might change within a few days, if the Indian team gatecrashes into the Super Eight stage. Who can withstand the special magic of a India-Pakistan final at the world cup? It would be every fan's ultimate dream come true (or a nightmare!).

At most of the BPOs however, cricket is big, and arrangements have been made to watch the live telecast of the matches at the workplace, data floor and cafetaria. Some companies are also providing special cabs for employees who wish to stay back in the office until the end of the match.
