Work on Rly overbridge going on at snail's pace

The railway over bridge on the Whitefield Marthahalli road was scheduled to be completed a few months back, but after a brisk start, the pace of work has fallen way behind, after completion of one side of the bridge. The way things are going it might not near completion even in the next six months. Ideally, the work should have been finished in summer, and become fully operational during the rainy season, saving public a lot of inconvenience. As of now, the approach roads have all been completed and connecting roads like the Kundanahalli Hoody road is getting ash plated. The railway over bridge comprising six lanes, is a vital link between ITPL and the city. Everyday thousands of office goers use this road and the density of traffic is getting nightmarish. Why have the officials not factored the public inconvenience caused due to the overshooting of the schedules by months?

The Marthahalli road is in a chaotic condition and pedestrians seldom have right of way, although new footpaths are being laid. Crossing the road at Marathalli is virtually suicidal. It is very important that provision is made for crossing with the help of a subway or a skywalk, more so since there is no crossing facility for a distance of three kilometres. The work on laying of footpaths is also going at a snail's pace, with either slabs yet to be laid, uneven surfaces lying unattended.

The Marthahalli main road is expected to handle larger volume of traffic once the railway over bridge is completed. Infrastructure development needs to be handled sensibly and with a futuristic outlook.
