Samarthanam to launch BPO Centre
Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in association with Department of Disabilities, Government of Karnataka, is launching a unique BPO training program for the persons with visual impairment and the underprivileged for Business Process Outsourcing and transaction processing.
ADC (www.adc.com/in), a leading provider of communications network infrastructure solutions, announced a grant of 25,000 USD ( 2/3rds of the total investment) to Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled to launch their BPO Training Centre.
ADC India presented a cheque of 25,000 US dollars to Samarthanam Trust earlier this week , at ADC, Bangalore. The Department of Welfare of the Disabled and Senior Citizens Government of Karnataka has extended its support to the training initiative which is an outcome of a unique public private partnership spearheaded by Samarthanam.
"The objective of initiating a unique training centre is to facilitate career development opportunities for the physically challenged and the visually challenged to work confidently and comfortably in a competitive and growth oriented environment" said Mahantesh Kivadasannavar, Founder Managing Trustee, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.
The BPO training is an initiative to train the youth with disabilities across the state of Karnataka in BPO/KPO process and in their job placement in various companies. Initially 150 candidates, 75 each from Bangalore and Hubli would be trained. It would be an excellent area of operations for the physically challenged as it does not require mobility. Samarthanam plans to set up a full fledged call centre in Peenya and Hubli shortly.
"Besides this grant, ADC has been consistently engaged with Samarthanam through its CSR initiatives; From making regular Charitable grants to outsourcing some of its product's assembly work, ADC has reaffirmed its commitment to providing education and career platforms to various underprivileged people of the society. We value our long-standing history of giving back to society in various ways and these contributions reinforce that commitment." said Michael Day, CTO, ADC Telecommunications Ltd.
