Ranga Ugadi on Sun, Mar 7

Ranga Ugadi is scheduled for Sunday, Mar 7, with two traditional forms of North Karnataka, "Sri Krishna Parijata" (by Mallavva Megeri's group, Bailahongala, Belgaum) and "Sannata" from Kudakalakatti, Dharwad. These are among the best troupes that perform these forms and they promise an entertaining musical fare.
Some highlights:

• The day-long event is a feast of Kannada theatre, literature and Ugadi food.
• Musicals in "Krishna Parijata" and "Sannaata" forms for the first time at Ranga Shankara
• "Krishna Parijata" by Mallava Megeri's group, of Bailahongala, Belgaum and "Sannaata" by "Basaveshwara Sannaata Mela", Kudakalakatti, Dharwad
• Something for children: "Ashtavakra", a puppet play based on a comic episode in the Mahabharata, for children from 5 years and adults
• Power-packed literary event: Girish Karnad and Nagatihalli Chandrashekar read their short stories, M D Pallavi sings poems, and a host of poets read from their collection.
• An open quiz on Kannada and Karnataka by the well-known quiz master, Dr. N Parameshwara.
