The book, " The Journey Home" which chronicles the metamorphosis of an adventurous young American seeker into a saintly global spiritual teacher, filled as it is with inconceivable trials, threats and temptations, illustrates how reality can be more adventurous - and infinitely far more fulfilling - than fiction.
Radhanath Swami, the American teenager who left home nearly forty years back, has chronicled his adventurous memorials in the book, that internationally renowned yoga teacher, B.K.S. Iyengar has called, "A stunning story worth reading." The book gives endearing glimpses into the kaleidoscope of Indian spirituality as the author journeys from one master to another till he ultimately finds his home in the forest of grace in Vrindavan. Then amazingly, to serve the mission of his spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, he returns back to what most of us call 'home' to share with the whole world the treasures he has so painstakingly discovered.
English Version, priced at Rs. 395, and Kanada Version priced at Rs. 195, 'The Journey Home - Autobiography of an American Swami', Pages 350, is available at all leading bookstores. The Kanada book is distributed by Sahitya Prakashana. The proceeds of the book sale will go towards charity - eye camps, feeding needy children and hospice services for the old.
On the occasion Sri. Radhanath Swami said to today people are so much stressed, mentally depressed, illness and have became more corrupt, earlier in India families were united and sacred but today I hardly see that today it has lost its legacy and culture. In the name of religion and language there is so much rift. People are behind material progress. And the people have came attached to superficial we require transformation like Greed to Generosity. And the book is all about an young boy who is search of truth who is within himself.
The Journey Home is a spiritual memoir-the real-life, autobiographical account of an exceptional countercultural youth who leaves America in search of himself. Trying desperately to access the continent within, he sets out first for Europe, visiting cathedrals, holy places, and hippie hotspots. Western religious ideals and the models who exemplify them are his first natural guideposts and ports of call. He is open, nonsectarian and, most of all, earnest.
About the author: Although he travels constantly, Radhanath Swami has established headquarters at Radha Gopinath Temple in Chowpatty, Mumbai. For the past twenty years he has guided the community development and has initiated a number of acclaimed social action programs including missionary hospitals and eye camps; eco-friendly farms, schools and ashrams; and a number of emergency relief programs throughout India.
