“BONJOUR INDIA” DAY 1 @ SEVEN HOTEL
Fashion show by Designer Rony Dutta
Bengaluru, Friday, December 11th, 2009: Seven Hotel today inaugurated day 1 of the Indo-French festival “Bonjour India” with a spectacular costume drama and fashion show titled ‘Immortals – A Costume Drama’ by maverick designer Rony Dutta. The talented and charming cine actress Pooja Gandhi graced the occasion with her presence as the guest of honour for the night.
The show began with an enactment where a female devotee of Lord Krishna appears holding a portrait of the lord and is pining for him, and the Lord himself arrives and the devotee washes his feet and presents him with a piece of clothing. The fashion show then began with a dance recital and models walking the ramp wearing vintage Indian menswear by Rony. Below is a brief on the collection in Rony’s words –
'The Immortals - A Costume Drama’
“The men's Indian wear collection for my show 'The Immortals - A Costume Drama' at Seven Hotel has a lot of vintage Bengal. Weaves have always intrigued me, be it hand woven cottons or the Benarasi brocades, & I have always wanted to do a collection in weaves. I can use these same weaves & contemporize the styling, but this collection is unfettered by trends primarily to keep the purity of the vintage designs, which greatly appeal to my aesthetics. And there is undoubtedly my personal touch to it, which one needs to see in the show
The show was quite unconventional. With my debut show of men's street wear at Club Nero, Bangalore earlier in August this year, I created a bizarre street scene rather than ramp walk. This show, choreographed by Prarthana Bidapa & myself had a different flavour as well, very period, & an element of drama.
My creations will be available at my own design space in Bangalore, as my concept of design is personality styling rather than distant retailing, because I feel the need to interact with every client of mine, to bring about a replete look”.
The Bonjour India festivities at Seven Hotel are taking place from the 11th to the 13th of December 2009.
Get set to experience the flavours of France in our very own city of Bengaluru!!
