Yathish Shettigar
This cartoonist is inspired by Politicians!
“I am inspired by all politicians. Their attitudes & mannerisms motivate me a lot and helps me in portraying their images in the form of cartoons,” said the noted cartoonist, Yathish Shettigar jocularly at the inauguration of a joint exhibition of his cartoons with his brother Yogish Shettigar, at the Indian Cartoon Gallery.
Well-known cine actor and former minister, Anant Nag, inaugurated the cartoon exhibition. “Both the Shettigar brothers are very good cartoonists. This joint cartoon exhibition shows some of their very good work for which they have bagged many awards,” said Nag.
Lauding the efforts of the Indian Institute of Cartoonists, Anant Nag said “IIC is one of its kind in India. There should be more cartoon galleries in India like IIC to give encouragement to the young and aspiring cartoonists.”
Explaining about the art of cartooning, Yogish Shettigar, younger brother of Yathish, said “While cartooning, I look at the problem in the society. I draw the cartoons that are related to social problems, environmental problems etc. All these things motivate me to do cartooning.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narendra, Managing Trustee of Indian Institute of Cartoonists said, “This is the 31st cartoon exhibition that we are organizing at IIC. Both the brothers are very good cartoonists. They have a very bright future. I wish them all the best for their future.”
