Conference on Karnataka Power 2009
Rajesh Kurup, Head - Power Distribution Business, made a presentation on The Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) on behalf of Enzen Global Solutions at the CII - Karnataka Power-2009 Conference in Bangalore held recently. His presentation was about the role that RGGVY would play in ensuring power supply of rural homes across India and the advantages this would have on the economy and the social fabric of India. A key point he made was on how providing power to rural India could extend the working hours of rural homes, businesses and entrepreneurs thereby not only bringing economic benefits to those home but also arresting the nearly ritualistic seasonal migration of people from rural areas to urban in search of work.
Rajesh mentioned that Enzen is a pioneer in the field of power distribution in its chosen role of a franchisee and that they have by design chosen to operate in areas where availability of power and its quality was the weakest because it offered the best opportunity for demonstrating improvements by managing higher efficiency levels than the incumbent Distribution Companies (Discoms). He stressed that the Enzen's unstated goal was to free up atleast $1 billion of Transmission and Commercial loses by working on enhancing efficiencies. By doing so, he mentioned, Enzen would be the equivalent of a power generation company with Rs 5000 Cr revenue but without the hassles of any assets to manage. He mentioned that Enzen sees themselves more as a 'Liberator' of power than as a Generator, Transporter or Distributor of power. This position, he mentioned, comes from the Company's ability to be extremely customer centric while adhering to a punishing process-driven work culture. End customer sensitivity and connect across the varied geographies that it operates from is Enzen's biggest USP, said Rajesh.
His presentation was well received by the audience comprising of some of the luminaries of power space in Karnataka and India
