Flood Relief Fund Padayatra great a success in Bangalore South

In a major humanitarian initiative towards providing succour to the flood victims,  Jayanagar MLA BN Vijayakumar decided to organise a Food Relied Fund  for the flood affected districts North Karnataka, by inviting CM BS Yeddyurappa to kick start the yatra from Jayanagar towards BSK, Basavanagudi. The programme started from the Ganesh Temple of 4th Block with the traditional puja and passed through 9th Main, Dose Camp Circle and went via JS Complex, entering 11th Main up to Adiga's Hotel.
Led by Chief Minster and senior ministers, MLAs and former Corporators and party leaders moved around with collection boxes ands walked along, asking for donations.
Leaders who took part in the yatra included Ananthkumar, PC Mohan, BN Vijayakumar, Dr. Hemchandrasagar, Mukhyamanthri Chandru, Rajiv Chandrashekar, CT Ravi, Ravi Subramanya, cini actors Tara, Srinath, former corporators. N. Nagaraju, CK Ramamurthy, SK Natraj, B. Somashekar, all BJP Yuvamorcha activists, women's morcha, mandal members,  residents welfare associations, and federation members.
People came out in large numbers and donated generously and handed over their cheques to CM. Some of the major  donors were: Rs 5 lakh by AMC College, Rs 20 lakh by V.S. Krishna Iyer, and National Co-operative Bank, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar Shopping Complex business and merchants  gave Rs 1.5 lakh, Mr. Suresh , General secretary of Jayanagar Varthagar Sangha  donated  Rs. 1.10 lakh and Cool Joint, Rs.30,000/- Shringar Electrical Rs.50,000/-,  Jain temple association, Jayanagar donated 1 lakh, Maiyas Hotel donated 1 lakh, Sri Ganesha Temple Trust donated Rs 2 lakhs, the Jayanagara Nagarike Vedike members had  donated Rs.50,000/- cash and goods worth 1.5 lakhs.

Besides these, many footpath vendors donated cash, goods, fruits, and other items. Many residents came out to donate mixer grinders, bedsheets, blankets, and so on. The approximate collection would have reached more than Rs 5 crores Bangalore south alone other than the utility articles.
A lot of senior citizens and general public visited the Jayanagar MLA's office to hand over their cheques.
Those who want to send in their contribution may send it to MLA's office; cheques should be drawn in favour of "Calamity Relief Fund of Karnataka A/c. No. 8235-00-111-0-02, or contact the office of Commissioner of Labour, Karmika Bhavan, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore-560029.
Relief material may be booked by District Magistrate, Relief Commissioner, Government and Non-Government Organisations, recognised political parties, trusts, philanthropic organisations, social services organisations, reputed press and electronic media for transportation by rail from any station in the country to flood affected districts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The relief material will be transported on the condition that the consignment of the relief material is addressed to the Relief Commissioner/District Magistrate of the flood affected districts which include; Bijapuir, Bagalkopt, Raichur, Bellary of Karnataka and Mehabubnagar, Kurnool, Krishna, Guntur and Nalgonda of Andhra Pradesh. The Railways will not charge any money for this kind of transportation.
