100 Knee Replacement Surgeries at Highly Subsidized rates

World Arthritis Day is celebrated on October 12th each year and is dedicated to create awareness about Arthritis. On this day city based SUGUNA HOSPITAL  has launched Arthritis Awareness Campaign and  is aiming to conduct 100 total Knee replacement surgeries at highly subsidized rate of Rs. 1 lac only as against the original rate of Rs.1.6 lakhs, using imported Stryker/ B'Rraun implants.
Dr. R. Ravindra, Managing Director of Suguna Hospital said, this campaign will run for 100 days starting from 12th October and the purpose of having this campaign is to raise awareness of arthritis in all its forms among the medical community, people with arthritis and the general public. This will influence public by making decision-makers aware of the burden arthritis and the steps which can be taken to ease it.
He also said that this campaign is intended to benefit the deserving patients who cannot afford the regular cost.
Due to the increasing lifespan of the average Indian, medical problems associated with the elderly are increasing multifold. And unfortunately there is lack of understanding and awareness.
This campaign is intended to highlight the everyday challenges at home and in the workplace for persons with arthritis or rheumatism and to provide solutions to these challenges. For example , the pain fatigue, and activity limitations that often accompany arthritis can prevent some persons form working, resulting in disability. Various accommodations, such as change in lifestyle, flexible work schedules and assistive, can counter the effects of arthritis and help keep persons arthritis working  said Dr. Ravi Manjunath.
The success rate at Suguna Hospital, Dr Ravindra said, is almost 99% TKR is a very gratifying surgery for the people suffering form pain due to arthritis and will definitely improve the quality of life of the patients.
