Indus Pride captures the passions of Karnataka
'Dogs View of Jog Falls' by G.K Hegde adjudged the winner by eminent photographer Raghu Rai
The result of the Indus Pride Passions of Karnataka Photo Contest in association with Epson India Pvt Ltd was announced earlier this week at The Park Hotel, . The contest which was held in two categories -media professionals and amateurs, invited the photographers to capture the passions of Karnataka through their lenses.
The entries for the photo contest were scrutinized by eminent photographer and Padmashree awardee Mr. Raghu Rai. With several quality entries vying for the top slot, the rigorous judging process was based on stringent selection criteria involving points for creativity, composition, uniqueness and how best the picture captures Passion - the true spirit of Indus Pride.
The best entry from among the journalist category, "Dog's view of Jog Falls", submitted by Mr. G. K. Hegde of Vijaya Karnataka, Mangalore was awarded with Canon 1000 EOS Professional Camera. "Kambala the buffalo race" by Mr. Astro Mohan of Udayavani, Manipal came in a close second and won an Epson Photo Printer and " Escape" by Sudhakar Yermal of Vijaya Karnataka, Mangalore came third and won him a Rs. 4000 gift voucher. Two more entries were picked for meritorious mention. They were "Sankranti Sambrama" by S. R Madhusudhan from Andholana Daily, Mysore and "Bahubali" by S. Manjunatha of New Indian Express, Mysore.
In the amateur category , the best photograph ,"Kambala" by Roshan Rao from Mangalore, was rewarded with a Canon 1000 EOS Professional Camera. "Shake a leg on Sankranti" by Savita Rao from Bangalore came second and won her an Epson Photo Printer and "Pigeon" by Shrawan Zadoo from Belgaum won him Rs. 4000 gift voucher for the third place. Two more entries were picked for meritorious mention. They were "Double Meter" by Neeti Narang from Bangalore and "Professional Dasha" by Bhaskar Ghosh, Bangalore.

Speaking on the occasion, India's legendary photographer Mr. Raghu Rai said, "The Indus Pride 100% Passion photo contest is a unique initiative. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the jury. The selection process was chalked out thoughtfully. With several entries measuring up, it was indeed an interesting task to pick out the true winner. I would like to congratulate all the participants for their spirit and enthusiasm which reflected in their efforts."
