A Dream Evening in I'nagar

It was a 'Dream Evening' at the East Cultural Association, Indiranagar on Saturday, Feb 10. A wide-eyed group of slum children rubbed shoulders with an equally wide-eyed and curious group of high flying British MPs, and exchanged notes on creativity, crayons and more. The two diverse groups painted nature on canvas, played games, sipped tea, and in the end, touched many hearts. For the 25 children from Ananya, a residential school for "at-risk youth", it was a dream come true and their own fifteen minutes of fame.

The event, 'A Dream Evening' was the brainchild of Arvind Malhotra of Future-Sense and Vishal Tarleja of Dream a Dream, two organizations dedicated to empower children from vulnerable backgrounds.

Mixing freely and learning and re-learning the art of sketching nature-based themes on canvas, the Brits also got a first hand account of the flavour of India - family values, Indian traditions, desi food, etc from the eager and bright street kids.

The little children were supposed to be wonder struck with the Power People, but as the sun set and the evening turned a shade dark, it was the other way round - with the MPs acknowledging that they were "filled with admiration". Whoa!
