ABVP clash with police over RGUHS Scam

The row over the PG medical entrance test scam got murkier when members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) clashed with police in the Jayanagar office of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) earlier this week. The ABVP activists were prevented from locking up the Vice Chancellor's office and removing his name plate.

The protestors sought legal action against the VC, Dr PS Prabhakaran, for his alleged involvement in leaking the scripts of the PG entrance test held last year. They want the VC to be suspended and the Government disclose the CBI inquiry report that was submitted recently. The report, they say, purportedly proves his involvement in the scam. Later, they went and submitted a memorandum to Governor, TN Chaturvedi, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Deputy CM BS Yediyurappa and Minister for Medical Education VS Acharya.

The Vice Chancellor was not available for his comment during the protest, as he had gone to Delhi on an official visit.

ABVP's city organizing secretary, Ravi Kumar alleged that the top two ranking students happened to be below average students who had barely scraped through in their MBBS exams.

Clearly, there is more to it than meets the eye. Unless the government comes clean on this issue, it will shake the confidence of the students fraternity.
