Bengali Association celebrating its 31st year Durga Pooja

Prabaasee Association (Bengali Association ) is celebrating its 31st year Durga Pooja from Thursday, 24th September to 28th September, 2009 in Canara Union, 8th Main, 15th cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore - 560 003. Dr. J.P. Bhattacharjee, ENT Surgeon is the President of this Association for the 4 consecutive year.
 This year's inauguration will be done by Sri. Giri Prakash, Chief of Bureau,
The Hindu Business Line, Bangalore on Thursday, 24th September at 7:30 p.m.
Around 1800 people attend the Pooja daily. Dance, Drama by children of the members of Prabaasee Association will be presented on all the days till 28th September.
On Monday 28th September, 2009 Vijayadashami, a Mini Holi is performed by the ladies (sindhur is used)on the occasion of  Visarjan of Goddess Durga in Ulsoor Lake. Procession starts from Canara Union, Malleshwaram at 2.30 p.m. and will reach lake by 5 p.m.

About Prabaasee Association:
Bengalee Association was started in Malleshwaram on Margosa Road about 50 years back.  A land was allotted in Assaye Road and the Bengali Association was shifted to Assaye Road but the Bengalis of Malleshwaram found it difficult to commute, hence the Bengalis of Malleshwaram joined together and started the Prabaasee Association.
