Seminar on Rain Harvesting

A seminar on rainwater harvesting, an initiative of Abhivruddhigagi was held at JSS Chintana Montana, Jayanagar  under the guidance of MLA B N Vijaya Kumar, Jayanagar Constituency.
Earlier, Mr. Murali Mohan welcomed the gathering consisting of BWSSB officials, Hospital owners, Hotel Owners, Institutional promoters, members of Press, eminent citizens of the Constituency, Office bearers of BJP and Ex Corporaters viz. N. Nagaraju, SK Natraj and SK Natraj.
The programme was well attended and started with  a prayer by Mr. Suresh S Bhasker.  Mr. Mukund briefly introduced  the speakers of the day Dr. Shivakumar - Scientist IISC Bangalore and Prof. S Ramesh from IIM Bangalore.
Mr Vijayakumar said that the decision taken in earlier meetings on Bangalore Metro, SAS, development of areas, etc had been implemented up to 80%. He was happy that the promises made by him on developmental works like changing sewage water pipes, Metro work, SAS were progressing very well.  The  Janaspandana programme held in JP Nagar and Jayanagar also helped to solve many issues.
Dr. Shivakumar explained with a slide show how effectively everyone at a very minimum cost can adopt rainwater harvesting and get the best benefits of the rain water. 
He said that the Light, Air and Water is gift of God and we need to use them effectively.  Generally he said though BWSSB is giving pure water he stressed that all of us should make use  of rain water more effectively for all purposes including for drinking, which is purest form of water.
Prof. Ramesh from IIM sought a commitment from the audience to implement rain water harvesting  without expecting any help from either Government or any other bodies.
