NATFLU, the generic version of Tamiflu Oseltamivir used for treating Swine Flu

Ties up with MedPlus to distribute drug nationally
NATCO Pharma Ltd. has launched NATFLU capsules, the generic version of Tamiflu Oseltamivir used for treating Swine Flu.
According to Mr. Dwaraknath, GM Sales & Marketing, NATCO Pharma, "NATCO has tied up with MedPlus for distributing the drug and we are in talks with other distributors to increase sales across the country." The chain has nearly 400 stores across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
Natflu'S maximum retail price is fixed at Rs. 480 for a bottle of 10 capsules, and is available in all licensed pharmacies.
NATCO is one of six pharma companies to have received government approval to sell the drug in the open market. Natco has already readied about 1.25 lakh doses (each comprising 10 capsules) and expects to sell one million doses by October end. NATCO also hopes to come out with a pediatric version of the drug in a month's time.
"Identifying outlets which have license and establishing the distribution and sales channel are huge challenges", added Mr. Dwaraknath.
NATCO has so far tied up with a chain of medical stores to give accessibility and availability.
NATCO has tied up with chemists and release 1.25 lakh capsules in to the market. Ther are around 480 designated chemists across the country who can sell Tamiflu and 600 more are expected to get the Schedule X license by next month.
