Photographs of the skies of Paris by Vincent Structure

Seven Hotel will unveil ‘Ciels de Paris’ – a photo art exhibition by Vincent Structure at the exhibition space - ‘The Cube’ on 25th September 2009.
Ciels de Paris or The Skies of Paris exhibits 33 large format photographs of the skies of Paris in various breathtaking settings, hues and colours. The exhibition will be on display at ‘The Cube’ for one month and will conclude on the 25th of October, 2009.
A fascinating work
This artistic performance had been led by Vincent Structure for 2 years. Thanks to his sensitivity to colours and materials, he was able to notice and to capture these skies from his studio located at the very heart of Paris. Sounds from “Boulevard St Martin”, scents from the market of “rue St Denis”, vibes from the theatre of “Porte St Martin” reach his studio and daily influence directly his work by being part of the Parisian way of life which is constantly in motion.
These sights of the Parisian skies are according the reflection, according to Vincent Structure, of the sensations coming from his hometown where he lives and works and his desire to escape, sometimes, from this urban world through this amazing window wide-open to the sky.
The skies of Paris: a cultural identity of France
Materials and colours modelled after Paris
These skies of Paris are numerous illustrations of the French capital. Like Paris, capital of fashion, where women are changing clothes endlessly, there are skies of velvet, of cotton or of silk. The changing colours of the skies of Paris due to the West wind go with the changing of the seasons: the orange colours of summer, the grey ones of autumn, then white ones of winter or the blue ones of spring.
The Eiffel Tower: the seal of Paris
These skies of Paris are marked with the most emblematic of the Parisian symbol. The Eiffel tower which looks like a flame breaking through the sky standing behind the roofs of zinc. The Eiffel tower is like a stamp, a proof that we’re really at the centre of Paris. As if with those clichés Vincent Structure had wanted to send to India postcards from Paris stamped with a picture of the Eiffel tower.
A life in the sky: Paris in motion
The roofs of zinc, the birds flying off, the fireworks, the crescent moons, every day, every night the skies of Paris are living following the capital’s every heartbeat as a reflection of what’s occurring on the ground.
An artist in line with French artistic tradition.
A tribute to the inventor of photography
Vincent Structure through his work pays a strong tribute to Nicéphore Niepce, the inventor of the photography, who for the first time, in 1824, fixed on paper the picture of a landscape. Vincent Structure wished to find back this specific atmosphere of the origin of the photography by using a set frame.
A tribute to the French impressionists
This exhibition is also in line with the impressionist painter’s tradition and in particular with Claude Monnet, painter of the famous masterwork « Impression au soleil levant ». The Impressionism movement dates from the 20th century; the artist’s part of this movement expressed and represented their impressions instead of reality. That’s the way Vincent Structure likes to play with photography: impress his « impressions » in reality.
A tribute to universalism
The sky belongs to everyone; it’s a sky with no boundaries.
If the Parisian skies reflect the Parisian way of life, they belong to everyone. That’s why Vincent Structure wishes to share them with the people of Bangalore through an exhibition of wide sizes. Those wide sizes allow the public to immerge itself completely in the universe of those skies and to feel as free as Parisian birds flying from roof to roof.
