ASISC Regional Sports Meet concludes Over 65 students from ICSE schools to represent Karnataka in National Sports Meet

Over 65 students from ICSE schools all over Karnataka, winners of the Regional Sports Meet organized by The Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) Karnataka, will represent the state in the National Sports Meet to be held in Ahmedabad during November 2009.
Announcing this at a press conference here today to mark the conclusion of the three-day long Regional Sports Meet hosted by India International School and Shri Vani Public School, the President of ASISC Karnataka & Principal, Shri Vani Public School, Mr Sharada Prasad said, “A total of 32 ICSE schools participated this time and 65 students have qualified for participation in the National Sports Meet. Approximately 15% of schools came out of Bangalore to participate in this event. Winners from other 10 regions will be competing with these students at the National Meet.”
The sporting events held were swimming, shot put, discus, basket ball, track and field athletic events etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of ASISC Karnataka & Principal, Innisfree High School, Mrs S Bolar said, “ASISC helps in promoting budding talent of students and to showcase their hidden strengths by bringing them on a common platform.” “ASISC is the only registered national entity for ICSE schools which gives an opportunity to students from various regions to perform on a national level,” she said.
The ASISC regularly conducts events like- quiz, dance, creative writing, teacher preparation seminars, continuing education seminars, declamation, debate etc.

“Last month, the Association has conducted some regional events like painting, debate, declamation and creative writing. 12-13 students from various schools who were winners of the regional rounds have already been sent to represent Karnataka at the National Level events,” apprised Usha Mohan, committee member, ASISC Karnataka & Principal, India International School.
About Association Of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC)
The Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (Karnataka) came into being on September 9, 1999. It was formed to meet the needs of ICSE schools in Karnataka, who did not have a common platform to represent their interests. This association has played a key role in addressing the issues faced by ICSE/ ISC schools in the state.
