A Novel Endeavour of Samartham

The Advocacy Department of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in order to build awareness about UNCRPD (United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disability) and activities of Samarthanam and to mobilize volunteers for the Walk-a-thon 2009, among the students of Bangalore City, has started with presentations to two reputed colleges like Christ University and Alliance Business Academy and has many more lined up.  
On the 29th July, 2009 Mr. G. Ravi Manager- Communication along with cultural artists Banumathi, Shylaja and Kavya visited Christ University to give a cultural performance and a presentation on the UNCRPD , also to spread awareness among the students of Bangalore about the activities of Samarthanam and in the process encourage them to participate in Samarthanam's activities as volunteers, specifically for the walk-a-thon 2009.
The program began with an invocation song by the Samarthanam cultural team which was enthusiastically received by the students. Mr. Ravi gave a presentation on the importance of the UNCRPD with focus on the World Blind Union.  After that he gave another presentation on the volunteering opportunities with Samarthanam specifically focusing on the Walk-a-thon 2009 and  spoke about Samarthanam Cricket teams' victory in Chennai, which received a standing ovation from the students. Mr. Ravi also handed over the magazine on last years walk-a-thon , which was very well received. The students said that they will be visiting Samarthanam's hostel and showed their keen interest to assist as volunteers in various Samarthanam's activities.

On the   8th Aug 2009 a similar program was held at Alliance Business Academy, City Campus for BBM students with the guidance of   Prof.Rajashekar and presided by Arunabhas Bose  HOD - BBM Alliance. The program began with an invocation song by the Samarthanam cultural team. Mr. Ravi gave a presentation on the importance of the UNCRPD and volunteering options with Samarthanam. Inspired by the presentation half a dozen students came over to take a detailed look at the activities of Samarthanam.   
There they got a preview of various activities of Samarthanam like Culture, Sports, Parisara and TechVision. Then they had a detailed discussion with National Director  Mr. Swamy , who spoke to them in detail about various aspects of Samarthanam's activities and enrolled them as interested stakeholders.
