Jayadeva Institute is no more the same, when compared to 5 years back. The Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Jayadeva wears a new look in seven  floors, with five star facilities like in-house Pharmacy, 20" Color TVs, artificial rose gardens, etc. The staff are neatly dressed and well behaved. In the General and new single specialty ODP you get everything under one roof. The hospital id equipped to take care of 520 patients and is the only institution in the country to have  32 full time Cardiologists, with 4 Cathlabs.
Everyday the hospital has footfalls of 800 OPD visits, a minimum of 60 angiogram and angioplasty operations are done.

Manjunath,  Professor & HOD of Cardiology, Director, said the Institute has various free treatment schemes such as the Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme, Suvarna Arogya Chaitnya Scheme, Rotary Bangalore sponsorship and Rotary International Sponsorship Scheme for farmers, low income people and also for people who don't have money for their medical expenses on a case to case basis.

Among the recent facilities added are a lobby fountain, paintings of historical places of Karnataka, free supply of mineral water to the patients and visitors - a first of its kind for a government run hospital. To keep a tab on the services meted out, Dr Manjunath makes surprise visits to the wards even during midnight.
The Institute has mobilized Rs.15 crore under the corpus of Poor Patient Fund, with funding from various NGOs and corporates such as Dr. Ambedkar Medical aid Scheme Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya Scheme, Rotary Bangalore Sponsorship, NRI doctors Sponsorship, Chordia Charitable Trust, Ranka Charitable Trust, Jain Heart Foundation, Adiparashakthi Spiritual Movement Trust, Dharmastala Sri.D.Veerendra Heggade Trust and Needy Heart Foundation & Philanthropists. Donors to the Institute can avail of IT exemption under 80 G.
The Institute offers special packages for Master Health Checkup for Rs.2000/- which includes Chest X-ray, ECG, Blood, Sugar, Blood Urine and Creatinine, TMT, with the single window OPD Block and the results are given in just 2 hours.

Innovative Dream Project for hospital
•As Administrator, Dr Manjunath has implemented Hotel Project in the surplus unutilized vacant land of the Institute which will earn the Institute Rs. 5 Crores annually and total of Rs.240 crores over next 30 years of lease period, which will be utilized for poor patient treatment for generations. This is a unique and innovative project in the history of any Government Hospital in the country
• Innovated Incentive Scheme for Staff Members at SJIC, which is first of its kind in any public hospital.
•Achieved 200% growth in the year 2006, 2007 & 2008

 

Professional skills & achievements:
Because   of   his   original   research,   Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty operation has become cheaper by 30 - 40% which is a boon to poor patients of India and third world countries.   He has innovated a new technique of performing Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty in difficult cases, which is now known as Maniunath's Technique and acknowledged in American medical journals.
Has mobilized Rs. 10 crore donations and established a poor patient fund at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology for benefit of patients undergoing Heart surgeries.
As president of Cardiological  Society of India,  Bangalore  Chapter, he has introduced novel scheme for the first time to donate Rs. 5 lakhs every year towards treatment of poor patients with Heart disease, from the CSI funds.
