10th year Kargil Vijayotsva Day celebrated in Jayanagar

10th year Kargil Vijayotsva DayHow many of us really remember the Kargil War and its brave victims? Many brave shoulders lost their lives for the sake of our country. In their memory, the Jayanagar based Rastrapremi Geliyara Belaga organized a 10th year Kargil Vijayotsva Day earlier this week to pay tribute to the heroes who laid down their lives for the country. The function was held at 9th Block, 26th Main near Prasidhi Hotel. The dignitaries who graced the event included Jayanagar MLA BN Vijayakumar, Ex. Corporators N. Nagaraju, CK Ramamurthy, B. Somashekar, YN Ashok, K.S. Nagaraj, president of RGB,  Ramesh, General Secretary, RGB and a Jawan form Rajastan who was on a holiday to the city.
A procession was taken from 9th Block bus stand to the spot where the podium is situated with drums and placards of soldiers and the national flag. School children of Nalanda English School also took part in the event to show their solidarity.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Vijayakumar said the students should not only aspire to become doctors, engineers and software engineers, but also enroll for the army and serve the country. He complimented the students for showing a sense of patriotism on the occasion.

KS Nagaraj, the President of RGB appealed to the public to stand up and observe one minute's silence as a tribute to the soldiers as well  as to Hindustani music vocalist Gangubai Hangal who passed away recently.
BV Ramesh, general secretary, RGB spoke on imbibing patriotic values among the youth.
