N. Nagaraju
B'lore's No.1. Ex. Corporator Joins BJP

Operation Lotus continues to be up and running, it doesn't matter if it is deliberate or otherwise. The latest to join the ruling saffron party is former corporator, N. Nagaraju, a popular Congressman who won the hearts of people cutting across party and community lines, with his widely regarded performance as a Corporator of Pattabhiramanagar ward. Nagaraju was formally welcomed into the BJP fold by Bangalore south MP and national general secretary, Ananth Kumar, Jayanagar MLA BN Vijaykumar, and former Corporators CK Ramamurthy, Somashekar, and SK Nataraj at a well attended function at Hande Hall, Jayanagar earlier this week.
Addressing the party workers, Ananth Kumar described Nagaraju as the right man in the wrong party until he was in the Congress, and now he had made the right choice at the right time, as the BBMP elections was only a few months away. With his support, the BJP would gain significantly in the elections, he said. He recalled that Nagaraju with his penchant for developing parks in Jayanagar was affectionately called by the people as Park Nagaraj. So long as he was in Congress, it was like having coffee with salt, now that he had joined the BJP, it was like adding sugar to coffee.
Sri BN Vijaykumar and other BJP leaders present echoed Ananth Kumar's sentiments and said they always held Nagaraj in high esteem for his works even though he was in a rival party. They said the Congress would suffer a grievous blow with his exit.

They affirmed that now the BJP was well placed to win all the 7 wards in Jayanagar in the corporation elections.
Replying to the felicitations, Sri Nagaraj committed to be loyal to the party and its ideology, and said he had decided to join the BJP after consulting his well wishers, voters and supporters. The decision had been in the back of his mind for several months, he said, and since the BJP government under Chief Minister Sri BS Yediyurappa had been doing a good job, he had decided to join the party as he would be in a better position to serve the people.
Nagaraj's tenure as Corporator is remembered even today by the people of Jayanagar for the development of many parks in Jayanagar. |
