At Jayanagar MLA's initiative
BBMP donates vehicles to needy

The Bangalore public are accustomed to blame the BBMP officials for all their problems, and rightly so. But for once, the tide turned the other way on July 8, when the BBMP Welfare Department, south Bangalore gave away free vehicles to the needy poor at its valedictory function held in Jayanagar T Block.
The beneficiaries amounted to 219 comprising unemployed youth and poor women belonging to the SC/ST/OBC and BCM category, from ward no. 57, 58, 60 and 64. Sri B.N. Vijaykumar, MLA, Jayanagar, Dayanand, BBMP Welfare Officer, south Bangalore, Srinivas, BBMP officials, and former corporators, CK Ramamurthy, B Somashekar, SK Nataraj and other BJP leaders were present.
Details of the vehicles presented: Five Maruti Omni Vans, two Tata Indica and one luggage auto to unemployed youths, four Barber Kits and a chair to the barber community, brass iron box and wheel trolley to 8 unemployed people, certificate and stipend of Rs 600 for 199 women who had undergone free training of 6 months.
All the beneficiaries were within the age group of 40 years.
The BBMP has allocated Rs 12 crore for welfare schemes in south Bangalore wards and future beneficiaries will cover electricians, electronics technicians, plumbers, fitters and other technical personnel, said Sri Dayanand, welfare officer. The scheme covers education and training, apart from financial assistance, he said. A subsidy of Rs one lakh would also be given to the eligible beneficiaries.

Addressing the public Vijayakumar said these facilities are purely meant for those are really in need and deserving of the assistance. Over the last three years, the funds meant for welfare schemes was left unused, but from now on, he would ensure that they were not only used fully but also it went to the deserving.
so that this should be issued in a proper manner and also recommend and give opportunity to other people, if you all don't make use of this benefits the fund goes un used and it goes back to BBMP, in fact for the past 3 years the BBMP is not been issuing the tailoring machines to the women's due to some technical reason, but we will ensure you'll that in the next batch tailoring machines will be given to those beneficiaries also
He said a sum of Rs 5 lakh would be given to the educated unemployed youths and entrepreneurs, and assured all the necessary support right from filling the application to getting sanction. The applications can be either collected from BBMP office or at the Jayanagar MLA's office.
