Holmium Laser is a fast emerging advanced technology making a mark in treatment of several Urological conditions, notably Prostate and Urinary stone disease. HoLEP which is now gaining popularity amongst Urologists worldwide promises to be the next frontier in managing the enlarged prostate particularly large glands and in those patients who carry a high risk due to co-existing medical problems, those on blood thinner medications, cardiac pacemakers etc. The almost negligible bleeding, complete removal of the prostatic adenoma ensures smooth recovery as well as excellent long-term results with recurrences almost unknown. Holmium Laser is the only laser which has multiple other uses not only in Urology but in other specialties as well.
Laser prostatectomy is gaining widespread acceptance amongst urologists worldwide due to its safety in treating patients with enlarged prostate. This surgery is mainly beneficial in high-risk patients with cardiac (heart) or pulmonary (lung) compromise, those having bleeding tendency and those on "Blood thinner" medications for heart diseases or stroke
