At 4th 'T' Block Jayanagar

Chandrashekar RajuEarlier the Oora Habba used to be jointly celebrated by 7 villages, Siddapura, Nagasandra, Marappanapallya, Yediur, Kanakanplaya and Thayapanapalya. People from all these villages used to gather in one place and celebrate, later due to expansion and growth of population, they dispersed and began to celebrate individually.
One such is Thayapannahali Oora Habba which is now known as 4th 'T' Block. This festival has been celebrated by the locals for the past 4 decades. Sri.  Chandrashekar Raju, well known Congress leader, is one of the chief patrons of this event.
Chandrashekar Raju was recently awarded the Priyadarshini Award for his service to society. A close confidante of senior Congressman Ramalinga Reddy, Chandrashekar Raju has served the party in various capacities for the past 25 years, starting his innings as secretary of the city youth congress, and then elevated to the post of vice president, and state general secretary, and now he is the state vice president of INTUC, (International Trade Union Congress), general secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress. He was former general secretary, Karnataka Raju Kshatriya Sangha, and is likely to be elected as President, Member of Bangalore Nagarika Hitha Rakshna Samithi. As president of the popular Annapoorneshwari Seva Samithi located in 5th Block, Jayanagar, he has been a great patron of the temple, and also donated generously for construction of a community hall, conducted free mass marriages, got admission in colleges to deserving students, apart from being a successful businessman.
Now, he is getting ready to contest in the corporation elections. "This time, there won't be any miss between the cup and the lip, as there are very few winnable candidates in Congress," says one of his supporters.
Following are the details of Oora Habba:
Voora Habba of Sri. Gangamma Devi is being celebrated with devotional and earnestness from Monday the 18th May to Wednesday the 20th May 2009.
On 18th Monday, 7 pm: Kumbhabhishekam to Sri. Bhagavathi Gangamma and Mahamangalarthi, Theertha Prasad viniyoga.

On 19th Tuesday morning, Abhishekham for Bhagavathi Gangamma, Pushpalankara and Kumkuarchana from 7.30 am Ambali Viniyoga, at 10.30 am Mahamanglarthi, Theertha Pasada Viniyoga followed by Uthsava Murthis of Sri Annapoorneshwari Devi and Sri Annamma Devi; 6.30 pm: Thambittina Aarathi to Sri. Bhagavathi Gangamma (Deepotsava) by Sumangalis and Kumaris. Theertha Prasada viniyoga.
On 20th Wednesday morning: Abhishekam for Sri Bhagavathi & Mahamangalartthi; at 5.30 pm: Prakarotsava of Utsava murthis of Sri. Gangama Devi, Sri Annapporneshwari Devi & Sri Annamma Devi.
Free annadana will be served to thousand of people needy and devotees, apart from distribution of free notebooks and blankets to poor children in slums, according to Chandrashekar Raju
On the conclusion day a procession will be taken with Dolu Kunitha in and around 4th 'T' block, 4th block and 5th block areas.
