Speciality Group Of Restaurants, the largest chain of fine dining restaurants in India, announces its National expansion plans and specifically for South India
When almost all industries are already gearing up for an extended period of economic slowdown, Speciality Group of Restaurants have successfully clocked a substantial growth over the last financial year and have plans of further growth in the next FY with planned opening of 13 new outlets between April and September 2009, out of which, 5 of them are franchisee owned. It has not only redefined the culinary tradition of the country but is now in the process of rapid and qualitative expansion plans.
“The idea is not only to add outlets in cities we already have a presence but also to make its presence felt in other small towns and back-up with firm plans of backward integration in the form of building infrastructure in terms of trained manpower & food processing”, says Anjan Chatterjee, Chairman and Managing Director of SRPL.
National Expansion Plans and more focus in South India:
At this juncture Speciality Restaurants Pvt. Ltd – the country’s largest chain of fine dining eateries with reputed brands like Mainland China, Oh! Calcutta, Sigree, Machan, Flame & Grill etc is all set to continue on its aggressive growth path through its national expansion plans.
“We are largely expanding Mainland China, Oh!Calcutta and Sigree. We have just launched ‘New World Mainland China’ in Saket, Delhi. Our 2 bigger projects would be one in Hyderabad where we are opening Mainland China, Sigree and a high-end Lounge Bar. While in Nashik, Mainland China is already operational with Machaan, Flame & Grill and banqueting facility to open soon. Apart from major metros, our destination would be Chandigarh, Mangalore, Cochin, Baroda and Ahmedabad”, Mr Chatterjee added.
SRPL opened 2 restaurants in a month in 2008-09. This year, although the worldwide economic recession slowed down the growth process but it was never halted. The Group plans to open 13 restaurants between April and September 2009. Out of which, 5 of them would be franchisee owned.
Launch of Speciality Outdoor ( Specialised Outdoor Catering arm) from the stable of SRPL:
The continued encouragement and insistence of the valued patrons of SRPL is the only reason for launch of Specialitiy Outdoors first in Kolkata. In Kolkata, with 12 outlets serving a variety of cuisines, SRPL is probably the only group qualified to undertake outdoor catering. Though we have been sporadically catering to selected clientele, we are now completely geared up to launch Speciality Outdoors. Plans are in place to acquire a plot of land to set up a complete facility of back-end operations in the most hygenic set-up. This state-of-the-art commissary of the highest standards will have the latest food production, refrigeration and testing facilities. The backward integration of a stand-alone restaurant chain – the first of its kind in the country, will surely add a new dimension to the hospitality industry.
Speciality Outdoors has already made a mark for itself across the country with catering to some of the some of the most high profile gatherings and functions. Noteworthy among all of them was the recently held Prime Minister’s farewell dinner for Somnath Chatterjee at 7, Race Course Road, Delhi catered by Oh!Calcutta. It is interesting to note that the Group hosted a superbly successful lunch for the West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee last year and the experience was a big hit with the bureaucrats who have been gunning for a repeat of the same experience ever since.
