Vriksha Academy of Media sets up base at Bangalore
Vriksha Academy of Media Arts is a Bangalore based Animation Training Studio, announced their setting up its pioneering school of animation education in Bangalore, India. This is a training studio being brought out by industry experts with the support of veterans from the animation film industry, production experts and overseas consultants. Following Vriksha’s philosophy, the key aspect of the training is the concept of a training studio, where the students learn through working and getting exposed to projects – in house and out sourced. The process of training is said to follow parallel to an animation production pipeline.
“Vriksha is the result of all my experiences so far, gathered and put together”, says Mr. Prince Paikattu, Founder/ Director of Vriksha Academy of Media Arts. Mr. Prince Paikattu, an artist and sculptor and an industry expert with over 12 years of experience in Animation Production and Training, began with Heart Animation Academy – arguably the first Animation production and training center in India that completed overseas projects for clients like Warner Bros. He went on to work in collaboration with a number of studios including Color Chips and ZICA. “I have seen much of the industry, grown along with its growth and worked along with its best” added Mr. Prince Paikattu. The team is supported by the well known overseas expert Mr. Mike Owens. “My decision to join Vriksha Academy of Media Arts is based on the firm belief that it will be more than just a place to learn software. More importantly it will be an opportunity to explore and practice the fundamental skills that will enhance the industry and enlighten your career in animation”, says Mr. Mike Owens. Mr. Mike Owens is an experienced animator and an industry expert who has previously worked with Mr. Prince Paikattu at the Heart Animation Academy.
According to the team behind Vriksha, Animation is an art form that still has not been explored to its full potential in India. In this regard the team believes that the animation training also needs to be brought back on to the track, keeping it at the level of an art form rather than a software based automation. “Animation is an art and must remain so staying in sync with technology. Technology should not dominate the art, but assist in its pursuit” says Mr. Harish T. V, Managing Director, the young entrepreneur from Bangalore. He further adds that this is the main motivation behind his choice for investing in Animation. According to him his own brief experience as an animator makes him a better entrepreneur to enter this field.
According to the team Bangalore is a preferred destination for people from around the country, and lays claim to being an educational hub of south India. Combined with its
moderate weather, amicable population and supportive infrastructure Bangalore forms an attractive location for the animation industry growth.
The training curriculum followed at Vriksha Academy of Media Arts is the result of the training experience of Mr. Prince Paikattu over the past 12 years. This is being further modified along the lines of an atelier to provide the most practical experience to the trainees. The core team combines enthusiasm with experience and a strong willingness to further enhance their own skills and pass on their experience to the trainees. “Having experienced a number of projects has given us the kind of practical knowledge both in terms of concept and technology that can make a big difference in quality of the final output. It is this practical knowledge that we wish to pass on to the trainees”, says Mr. Venkat Katta, Business Development Officer.
