WALK THE GREEN TALK
Tyco Fire & Security flagged off the Corporate Peace Walk (Project - Green Foot) in the early hours of Saturday, as part of its "Global Earth Week". With an aim to promote awareness of eco-friendly behavior, the Walk started out at 6:30 am from the Mahatma Gandhi Statue, and proceeded towards M G Road, Brigade Road, before returning to the start point, one and a half hours later.
With Project Green Foot, Tyco endeavors to lead by example, and encourage energy saving methods towards reduction in carbon footprint, or what is a measure of the impact of our activities or lifestyle on the environment, in terms of the amount of CO2 produced. One of the priority global concerns, global warming, could well do with efforts on all fronts - corporate, national and individual - to reduce our collective carbon footprints.
Tyco, as a participant in the Business Roundtable's Climate RESOLVE program (RESOLVE: Responsible Environmental Steps, Opportunities to Lead by Voluntary Efforts), is not new to energy conservation, having formed the Asia Pac Project Green Foot Team and identifying 6 focused areas namely electricity reduction, water reduction, fleet and fuel management, waste management & recycling, travel reduction, and freight reduction. The improvement ideas and 'quick wins' and six sigma projects will soon be put out on a website for the benefit of all.
