Manipal Hospital launches Cardio-Renal services

Gears itself to combat the Cardio-Renal disease as the correlation between kidney and heart diseases become more evident
Additionally, offers consultations for Cardio-Renal diseases with experts in kidney disease and cardiology in the same clinic
Its official - Studies prove a direct correlation between cardio and renal problems. Patients with kidney disease are 1000% or more, likely to develop heart disease and people with heart disease tend to have worsening of kidney disease. Most people with kidney diseases die of cardiovascular disease well before they reach dialysis and the most common cause of death on dialysis is heart disease. Taking cognizance of this fact Manipal Hospital has added another first to its ever growing list of accomplishments by announcing the launch of the first Cardio-Renal services in Bangalore.
Taking this into consideration, the Manipal Institute of Nephrology & Urology along with Manipal Heart Institute have decided to start comprehensive services that care for both the heart and kidney as a unit rather than the individual organs alone and hence Cardio-Renal services was initiated.
On offer is a Cardio-Renal package where necessary tests to check the kidney and heart are done as a package in addition to consultation with the relevant. These packages are offered at a subsidised rate.
It is a well known fact that chronic non communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension affect both the kidney and the heart. However, significant measures need to be taken to spread awareness about the fact that any kind of kidney disease by itself is a significant risk factor for heart disease. Vice-versa heart diseases cause worsening of kidney disease. Cardiologists and Nephrologists have jointly termed this as Cardio-Renal syndrome which is the close association between CKD (chronic kidney disease) and CVD (cardio vascular disease).
Speaking on the occasion Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal, Director, Manipal Institute of Nephrology, Manipal Hospital said, "The launch of Cardio-Renal services at Manipal Hospital reaffirms our mission to provide exemplary medical services to our patients. We certainly hope these endeavours would help us combat the rising epidemic of CKD and CVD and nip it in the bud before it becomes uncontrollable". He further added "Launching our first Cardio-Renal services in Bangalore is the beginning of our
commitment towards spreading awareness and educating the masses about this rising epidemic".
