Ananth Kumar exudes confidence about "BJP bastion"
BJP leader Ananth Kumar, the 4-time MP from Bangalore south, has the looks of being invincible - and you can't fault him really for that. Given that the constituency is one of the most prestigious seats in Bangalore, the Congress party desperately tried to put up a high profile to stop Ananth Kumar on his tracks. It first sounded out the former CM and Vokkaliga leader SM Krishna. For some time, the media licked its lips in anticipation of an exciting fight, but SMK backed out (chickened out?). Eventually it has zeroed in on Krishna Byre Gowda, also a Vokkaliga, and is hedging its bets on the youth vote.
But Ananth Kumar is unfazed. And he certainly does not look like an oldie. Sporting a T-Shirt and an informal blue sleeves, he looked the youth in the eye and sought their vote boldly.
As is his style, Ananth Kumar filed his nomination at the Jayanagar BBMP office in 2nd Block, after seeking the blessings of the Banashankari Matha at the famous Banashankari Temple.
Addressing the media, he described Bangalore south as a BJP bastion, and said, "I have faced veterans like KS Hegde and Venkatagiri Gowda ever since 1977. Bangalore south includes the assembly constituency of R. Ashok, a consecutive winner, and the one-time winner M. Srinivas, and BN Vijayakumar, in Jayanagar. I am very confident that in Bangalore we will win all the 4 constituencies and will realize the dream of making Advani the PM."
In his short speech, BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu urged the people to vote Ananth Kumar with the biggest victory margin, as he was a national leader, excellent organizer, dedicated party worker and result oriented representative of the people.

A law graduate, Ananth Kumar has served as a Member of Parliament for 4 terms and has been a Union Minister from 1998 to 2003 serving 4 different portfolios. He is actively involved in Aadamya Chetana, a trust that provides support for children and women.
The BJP leaders also strongly condemned the Congress and BSP for singling out young Varun Gandhi and preventing him from contesting the Lok Sabha elections. After all he has not committed any offence and slapping the NSA against a young leader was the height of irresponsibility. While the secular parties showed extraordinary urgency in using the NSA on a young BJP leader on an ordinary incident, it did not invoke it against proven terrorists and anti-nationals like Afzal Guru and PDP leader Abdul Nazar Madani, they said.
