BSNL tiesup with Micromax for 3G Data Cards

BSNL and Micromax have entered into a national agreement for sale and distribution of 3G Data Cards to the BSNL subscribers. The just released 3G services of BSNL are currently available in approx 11 cities and BSNL intends to make this reach to approx 700 cities in the next 2-3 months.
 "It's always been a delight to bring in the latest technology products to the Indian customers and through our 10000+ retailers present in India, we promise to reach all 700 cities of India with 3G Data card as soon as the services are available, " commented Mr. Vikas Jain, Business Director, Micromax Informatics Limited.
The product, neatly packaged in designs endorsing the BSNL brand ambassador and Indian celebrity, Deepika Padokone, is currently available in the cities of Ambala, Jallandhar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Agra, Patna, Durgapur, Haldia, Dehradun and Shimla.
Micromax has launched both the HSDPA and the HSUPA variants of the data cards in the USB form factor. The simplicity of the product coupled with plug and play usage has proved to be a delight for the customers. The product weighs less than 50 grams, comes in a very small form factor like USB pen-drive and can be used along with both the notebook as well as in desktop. The product supports certain version of Windows as well as MAC operating systems and Micromax promises on releasing the support for limited versions of Linux operating system shortly.
Micromax also has a unique product service setup and offers a toll-free telephone number for complaint registration, with complaint resolution time of less then 4 hours in "Class A" cities. Micromax also provides on-site service in most of the Indian cities, thereby saving the hassles of visiting the service centre just in case things are not right with the product. Helping the cause are approximately 200 Micromax touch-points which are Product Support Engineers spread in approx 150 Indian cities.
Data Card is one of the first and foremost product applications which can drive higher Data ARPU's for the operator on the 3G spectrum. The product also ranks highest amongst the user group for an enriching 3G experience. Besides the regular internet application and high speed e-mail downloads on the move, the product promises to deliver an unmatched experience of enjoying streaming video like live cricket broadcasts, enable business transactions like e-shopping, e-ticketing, e-tax filing etc.
With the launch of 3G services, Mobile Broadband is indeed unleashed in India. The device, on BSNL 3G network, promises theoretical speeds of up-to 7.2 Mbps for Download and up-to 2 Mbps for upload applications (on HSUPA modem). This could mean that subscriber could actually watch a movie online (without witnessing frame breakage) on any of the available content portal, take less than 1 minute for downloading an email of 1MB size or take less than 30 seconds to download map instructions for reaching from one place to another while on an out-of-city business tour.
