It's hot at Ranga Shankara
Summer Express: 2009
“Summer Express” will come back to Ranga Shankara with 13 workshops lined up for April-May that will engage at least 600 children. This program is being presented under AHA! Ranga Shankara’s Theatre For Children program supported by Britannia Industries Ltd. The workshops will be conducted between Apr 6th and May 7th at Ranga Shankara and MES Kishore Kendra, Malleswaram.
Into its fourth year, Summer Express is stronger and broader than ever before. Padmavati Rao and Neeraj Kabi have created brand new workshops, bringing in new energies and perspectives. Kirtana Kumar (who is very well-known for her work with children in Bangalore), Ram Ganesh Kamatham (the young playwright), and Mamta Sagar (a performing poet) will hold workshops.
Arvind Gupta, a professor from Pune brings his very successful Science Toys workshop that promises to enthrall and educate children at the same time, by teaching them how to use science to make exciting toys. “Thappattam” is an art form from Thanjavur. Traditional artistes from a remote village of Tamil Nadu will teach children the essence of rhythm. Car Mechanics and Cooking (workshops introduced last year) make a comeback too. A workshop on Photography will introduce the basics.
Each workshop is offered to children in specific age groups. Admissions will be done at Ranga Shankara and Malleswaram from Mar 7th onwards, starting at 10 AM. Age proof and payment in cash are mandatory for admissions.
Complete details of the workshops are available on the Ranga Shankara
website (www.rangashankara.org).
