Sri Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation presents Ratnakara Awards
Sri Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation presented the Sangeetha Ratnakara Award 2009 to Dr. Umayalapuram K. Sivaraman and Dr. Yegnasubramanian, Chairman, SVBF, USA, for their contributions to society and their field of work. Senior Congress leader SM Krishna presented the award to the awardees.
The foundation has instituted the "Sangeetha Ratnakara" and "Sastra Ratnakara" Awards to honor those who have dedicated themselves to their fields.
After the award ceremony Dr. Umayalapuram K. Sivaraman along with Vidwan Neyveli Santhanagopalan (Vocal), Vidwan Sundaresan (Violin) and Vidwan Giridhara Udupa (Ghatam) presented a music concert.
The distinguished people who have been awarded in the past include Dr. M Balamuralikrishna & Vedantha Kesari Narayana Bhatt. Dr. L. Subramanyam & Vidwan M.A. Nagaraja Bhatt, Pt. Hariprasad Chourasia, eminent Sanskrit Scholar Vidwan Vishwanatha Gopalakrishna Sastry of Rajamundry (AP).
About Sri Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation
SSSCF was started in the year 2002 under the aegis of Ananthasri Vibhushita Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji of Sringeri Sharada Peetham. SSSCF has opened Sanskrit learning centers all over Karnataka and has taught Bhagavatgita, Shivanandalahari, Soundaryalahari, Narayaneeyam, Ramayanam, Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya and other stotras to thousands of beneficiaries.
The Foundation also publishes several CD's like "Mahanyasa Prayogaha", a compilation of sacred mantras, "Ramayana Vaibhavam" through which one can learn both Sanskrit and Ramayanam through Multimedia interaction. "Upayuktamsa Sangraha" a compilation of Veda Mantras and much more.
Dedicated to furthering the Sanskrit language, Indian Music, Dance and Drama, the SSSCF regularly conducts various programmes and lectures by eminent scholars including renowned seers from various Mutts.
