Thomas Kallarackal breathes life into nature
Bangalore's very own Thomas Kallarackal's exclusive exhibition of paintings on flora, fauna, nature and wildlife is on at Chitrakala Parishat, from Feb 8-18.
In art man reveals himself and not his objects, Rabhindranath Tagore has said. Thomas reveals his heart in his art and his abiding love for nature.
The artist is an ambassador for flora, fauna, nature and wildlife. At a time when the world is increasingly becoming aware of climate change and global warming. Thomas Kallarackal's paintings are a constant and subtle reminder of the beauty of nature and the need to protect it.
A self-trained artist, there is a surprising sophistication in the ease with which he captures nature andreproduces them on the canvas.
His work:
The skilled use of light and shade technique gives a three-dimensional effect to his paintings. Accordingly, his paintings make for a perfect multi-dimensional use-art of arts sake, decorative piece for your living room.
For colour, motif and detail Kallarackal relies on nature. You can experience the texture in his paintings- the gnarled trunk of a tree, the wrinkles on the trunk of an elephant, the rough skin of the pachyderm or the soft fur of the tiger or deer skin
His works are represented in many individual, institutional and corporate collections in India and overseas. He has a number of solo and group exhibitions to his credit across the country.
A part of the proceeds from the sale of his paintings go towards the education and welfare of the underprivileged children of Lovedale.
The Lovedale foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empower the education of under-privileged children.
The paintings are priced from Rs.16,000/- to Rs 1 crore. Printouts of the paintings are available for Rs 100.
