Paintings on dancing deities and landscapes

KalaradhanaA solo show of Paintings by Shakuntala Jain titled Buddha - Birth of Enlightenment was presented by Kalaradhana at Chitrakala Parishat Art Complex, on Thursday, Feb 11. Sri L. Revannasiddaiah, IPS (Retd.), former DGP and Managing Trustee of FORHD, inaugurated. The exhibition is on view till 15th of February.
The paintings display an array of eye-catching images of dancing deities, landscapes and cultures and lifestyles of people of yore and present.
A self-taught artist, Shakuntala Jain has conducted solo shows at CKP, Hotel Grand Ashok, Leela Palace, Groups shows in Hotel Grand Ashok and also participated in many art exhibition and camps
"I have been painting from my childhood and became very serious about art about 16 years back when my kids were grown up. My foray into art began when I met the artist who guided me," says Shakuntala Jain about her beginnings. Her favorite medium is oil on canvas and her works reflect on the realistic ethos of art. There is need for humanistic values. On her style, she says: "I try to build a grid of real harmony, a matrix of the interdependence of everything, a holistic view point. If one has the determination, success is inevitable." She uses bold colours just like words are used in poetry, and her favourite them is spirituality. Red and brown shades dominate many of her works.
Shakuntala Jain works based on her mood and emotions, and says art for her is the fulfilment of her existence.
