Jayanagar to get one-of-its-kind transformer

The 5th Block Residents Welfare Association organized  an interactive meeting with consumers of Jayanagar BESCOM -South Division (S1) on Saturday at Manadi Samskruthi Sadana, 9th Main, 5th Block, 40th Cross near Tirulam Eye Clinic. The meet was presided over by Sri BN Vijayakumar, MLA, Jayanagar. Senior officials from BESCOM  Mr. AN Jayaraja, Executive Engineer, Mr. Manjunath AEE addressed the  grievances of the public regarding power supply and related issues. Mr. Mudalagirappa, VICE President of 5th Block association compered the proceedings.
Some of the  issues highlighted by the people are,  to keep  the area clean wherever the transformers are installed, place helpline numbers at parks and important junctions, 66KVA transformer to be installed for better service at Jayanagar which is a long pending issue, streetlights to be maintained properly by the BBMP, relocate the transformer near BWSSB office near JS Complex as it is obstructing the pedestrians and posing danger, replace the 8-year-old transformer near Raghavendra Swamy temple, 5th Block with a new one, cut the trees obstructing the streetlights, prevent frequent power outages and short circuits near 11th 'A' Main, MTB area, and replacement of malfunctioning meters.
The AEE, Manjunath took down the phone number and address of each and everyone of the complainant and promised to rectify their grievances. The locals revealed that Manjunath was always accessible over his mobile, even on Sundays.
Jayaraj complimented the Jayanagar MLA for getting four transformers replaced with new compact box type transformers of 1,000 KVA costing Rs 6 crores overall.
Another 9 units of 4 nos transformer costing 65 lakh was also got installed, 95 sq mm cable replaced by new ones for about 10.3 km stretch worth 15 crores, 400 sq mm cable replaced  for 3.5 km stretch worth 6 crore, Mr Manjunath said. He added that the residents of Jayanagar would also be getting a 66 KV MUSS power house for 3rd Block, which would be one of its kind in Karnataka. This would significantly enhance the power supply in the areas of Jayadeva Institute, Audugodi and Sarakki Gate, he said.
Addressing the gathering, BN Vijaykumar said he will shortly be convening a meeting of all the civic agencies like BWSSB, BBMP, Bescom, etc under one roof so that there would be better coordination among them for road cutting, and ensuring all works are taken up in consultation with one another to avoid confusion. He complimented the Bescom officers for responding to the needs and grievances of the public.

He also clarified that fancy lights like the 4-feet lights installed at Shalini Park in Basavanagudi which got stolen, would not be used henceforth, and in its place, the authorities would be installing big high mars lights..
The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Bhaskar, the secretary of the association.
