'Mukta Mukta' 170 Episodes..Still Counting
After the success of the Kannada mega serials like 'Mayamraga', 'Manvantara' and 'Mukta', TN Sitaram's Kannada serial 'Mukta Mukta' is turning out to be another big success. Like his other serials, 'Mukta Mukta' also deals with middle class family, politics, current affairs, bureaucracy, exploitation of woman, and introducing laws to people. Now the serial has reached an interesting position.
The show is aired at prime time 9.30 pm on ETV Kannada, and repeat telecast at 11 pm and 1.30 am, targeting the business community and the NRI audience respectively. Not surprisingly, the serial has specially caught the imagination of the legal fraternity, with its very popular court scenes. The scenes of arguments in court, which are TNS's trump card, is creating a lot of interest even after watching the same scenes everyday. TN Sitaram creates new interest with the same old court scene in every episode.
In the present episode, Judge Deshpande is in trouble for his son in law Raju's death, while Bullet Soma and Boja are the main approver and witness for Deshpande presumably killing his son in law. The main motivation behind Soma and Boja is Ranjan Lal Mishra, and the investigating police officer is Durgoji Kendavada, i.e. TNS, an advocate for the Judge Deshpande who is an honest and upright Judge. The judge hearing this case is played by Prof. Baragur Ramachandrappa.
Another highlight of TNS is the interactions that follow the telecast of his serials, in the Samvada program held in various places. The latest Samvada program was held in Mysore that elicited a tremendous response. The organizers told TWB that the interaction programs will be held all over the State, in Chickmagalur, Hassan, Hubli and Davanagere in the immediate future.
One of the characters called Boja whose original name is Joseph admits to the popularity that he is getting from the public after working with TNS serial. "Strangers recognize me and come and talk to me, referring to me as Boja. This is true not only in city limits but even in several part of Karnataka. Sometimes, they think I am like my character, negative and not trustworthy! Though they soon realize that that is only my screen personality. That is the power of a TNS serial in the minds of the people."
A survey by TWB also confirmed the peer status that TNS enjoys among the TV audience. Here's a peek at what people say:
"Initially, we were very upset that a honest judge Deshpande was unnecessarily put into trouble, but the scenes that followed to prove his honesty are simply brilliant." - A senior citizen.
A few homemakers felt the original Mukta was more interesting as there was a lot of humor, and entertainment and it was family oriented, whereas in his latest serial, the story is related to law and order. The title song Needi Needi is also well accepted among the audiences and repeated online very often by the viewers.
Many viewers also send their appreciation online to TNS. As for the fate of Justice Deshpande, stay tuned to the TV.
