Feb Schedule @ Ranga Shankara

rangashankaraFebruary '09 promises to be a treat for theatre lovers in Bangalore. Apart from some brilliant plays in Kannada and a remarkable play from UK, Rangashankara will also play host to Attakkalari India Biennial 2009 and Samashti festival.  
The month will begin with 'Naa Tukaram Alla's' seventh show at a stretch.  This hilarious but heart warming play is written and directed by S Surendranath (Suri) of Sanket.
Yours Truly Theatre will present 'Common Man' in a complete-the-story interactive theatre style.  Here, the scripted story stops midway and the audience is asked to end the story after which the actors complete the play based on what the audience said.
'Poli Kitti', a realistic comedy and social play will be staged on February 4 by Kalakunja. 
Written by playwright Michael Frayn, 'Alarms and Excursions', a dark farcical comedy, will be staged by Dramatist Anonymous, also called Dramanon.  The play comprises of three short playlets that share a central theme of disconnect among people in the age of technology.
Ranga Shankara will be a venue for 'The Attakkalari India Biennial 2009' from February 7 to 15.  This year the festival will be a multi-venue, multi-layered event which will include a few large productions, some solo and smaller pieces, commissioned works by young choreographers from less developed regions and platform performances. 
The Signdance Collective, an arts company from UK, who use their disabilities to create remarkable performances are bringing two pieces, 'Travelling' and 'Listen' to Bangalore on February 17.
'Ratnan Parpancha', scripted by the noted Kannada writer G P Rajaratnam, will be staged by Kriyative Theatre.
The Samashti Festival will take place between February 20 and 22.  In their effort to reach the masses without affecting the values of theatre, the Samashti team will showcase three of their plays, 'Avaanthara', 'Saafalya' and 'Miss Sadarame' during the festival.
Written by Raghavendra Patil Malladi and directed by Krishnamurthy Kavattar, 'Tudiyambo Tudiyilla' will play on February 24.
The immensely popular musical 'Mysooru Mallige' will once again be brought on stage by Kalagangotri. 
The month will end as it began, i.e., with the staging of ''Naa Tukaram Alla'.
