BSPIN Addresses Next Gen Productivity


Indian IT companies tackle new challenges

IT thought leaders and industry captains got together to address how companies can rise to new levels of business excellence beyond quality at an event titled "Transforming Business Through Next Gen Quality" hosted at the Sasken Campus in Domlur on Saturday. The event was organized by the Bangalore-based IT professionals organisation BSPIN, a not for profit industry body. 
"We are proud to take the lead in connecting productivity to innovation and quality. The organisation has been a driving force in India's emergence on the IT services scene in terms of proficiency and skills", said S. K. Mishra, president of BSPIN. 
The half-day launch event included a keynote speech from Prof. S.Sadagopan, director of IIIT-B and member of India's Knowledge Commission as well as Karnataka Chief Minister's Vision Group on IT. It also included a high level panel discussion by V. V. Apparao (VP, HCL Technologies), Rani Malli (Director, Philips India), Maya Srihari (Quality Leader, IBM) and Satyendra Kumar (SVP, Infosys Technologies). 
In a globalised economy, key success factors for information technology (IT) and services businesses have changed from cost and location to productivity and innovation. The Topics addressed in this first major IT industry event of 2009 included business trends, quality measures, productivity metrics; customer innovation and IT company strategies. 
"BSPIN has a glorious past. I am sure it will not rest on the past laurels, but work hard to further glory. BSPIN should also look beyond quality to innovation, the next growth driver for the Indian IT industry," Sadagopan urged. 
"Indian companies will need to demonstrate their tenacity even in the toughest economic conditions. BSPIN will help organisations address quality and productivity strategies for business excellence," said BSPIN president S.K. Mishra. 
Founded in 1992, BSPIN is a non-profit organisation with a vision to empower the Indian software industry for global leadership. It works with senior leaders as well as the members of various development teams to enable learning by sharing knowledge.
