Curtain falls on 3rd Bengalooru Intnl Film Fest

The 3rd Bengalooru International Film festival concluded on Thursday, Jan 22, after showing an overall 154 movies including 35 movies from world cinema, 27 movies from retro section, 22 movies in country focus, 10 movies in Chitrabharathi section, 8 movies in homages, I I movies from word to images, and 27 documentaries. Celebrities like Prakash Rai, Ramesh Aravind, Puneet Rajkumr, B. Sarojadevi, Parvathamma Rajkumar, Nagabharana, Sharmila Mandre made their presence felt at the fest.
Addressing a press conference, V. N. Subba Rao, Chairperson, Oganising Committee thanked the people for their overwhelming response, and hoped to come back next year in a bigger and brighter way."
Umashankar Swamy, producer director of Banada Neralu said he could find a suitable location for his film which was based on environment only in Karnataka. Also Bangalore was a suitable place for film publicity. Speaking about the Indian Panorama, Girish Kasaravalli, Director of Gulabi Talkies said, there were less number of Kannada films in the Indian Panorama but there are 5-6 films which are being selected at present. He also focused on how there were only a few theaters to screen offbeat Kannada films.
"The number of theaters in all have reduced from 1200 to 600+ theaters in the State, whereas in Chennai and other states they have more theatres, we should introduce 200 seater capacity apart from the existing multiplexes, he said, and urged the State government to rebuild the Puttanna theatre into two sections - one for mainstream cinema and another for art films.
 Earlier, the Chief Minister Sri B.S. Yeddyurappa promised to release Rs 50 lakh as grant for the film festival next year. A good news for Kannada film fans is that three Kannada films viz. Gulabi Talkies, Gubbachigalu and Banada Neralu have been chosen for the festival of Indian Panorama films in New Delhi.
The festival concluded with valedictory function and with the screening of Merry Christmas film
