Highlights of Opening Day of BIFFES 2009

The first day of the screening of International films at BIFFES 2009, at the main venue Vision Cinemas witnessed movies from various countries. On the sidelines of the festival, different events were conducted with much ado and representation.  There were five events like:
• Animation Workshop
• Children's section
• Indian Panorama - Chitrabharati
• Documentary and Short Films Section
• Release of DVD Film on Evolution of Kannada Film Music and Inauguration of Kannada Section
Renowned Actor Prakash Raj's film Kanjivaram and its making.  It's the original story by Priyadarshan. He also talked about making films in various Indian languages.
Animation Workshop
A Four day Animation workshop was started today at Vision Cinemas by ABAI and ANTS.  It was inaugurated by noted Actor and Director Ramesh Arvind and was presided over by Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, CEO, Big Animation. Speaking during the iauguration Ramesh Aravind said he would like to explore the new talent in animation for his upcoming films. The animation workshop will have the training by animation experts.
Children's Films Section
For the first time Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy, has included Children's section of the festival was inaugurated at Suchitra Auditorium by famed prodigy Master Kishen of "Care of Footpath"  and Ms. Geetha Narayan renowned educationist presided. There will be six children's films screened from today to January 22 over two shows of each film everyday.  Since the screenings have been organised for the school children from designated schools, the opening day witnessed a number of children.  The screenings of two Kannada films 'Ekalavya' and 'Naanu Gandhi' will be showcased on Sunday, January 18, and is open to the public.
Indian Panorama - Chitrabharati:

Popular Actor Prakash Rai along with Mr. K V R Tagore, Additional Director General of Police, inaugurated Chitrabharati, Indian Panorama section which saw the screening of his film Kanchivaram directed by famed director, S. Priyadarshan.
Documentary and Short Films Section
Actor and Environmentalist Suresh Heblikar and Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Director General of Police, inaugurated the documentary and short film section.
Release of DVD Film on Evolution of Kannada Film Music and Inauguration of Kannada Section was inaugurated by Mr. C. Aswath, Mr. K V Gupta and Siddaiah.
